AUGUST

Brooklyn Hat

Tuesdays: August 3rd, 10th and 17th from 3-5

Skill level:  Must know how to knit and purl.

Instructor:  Janet Larson

Cost: $35

Description:  Stay warm this winter with a stylish hat designed by renowned  Brooklyn-based knitwear designer and photographer Jared Flood. This class is a great-spring board for holiday gift making and giving!!

Supplies:  

Yarn: 1 skein of  Araucania "Azapa" 
Pattern: Jared Flood's "Made in Brooklyn" booklet
Needles: Size 10.5  needle and size 10.5 double pointed needles
Notions:
Markers, darning needle, scissors.

 

 

Felted Hat

Wednesdays: August 4th, and 18th from 12-2:30

Skill level:  Must know how to knit and purl.

Instructor:  Janet Larson

Cost: $35

Description:  Make this cute hat for a little friend or yourself.  Decorate it with felted flowers and leaves or do some creative needle felting of your own design.

 

Supplies:  

Yarn: DK weight yarns in the amount per pattern 
Pattern: Fibertrends "Bright Chapeau" CH42
Needles: Size 10 16" circular needle and size 10 double pointed needles (or size to obtain gauge) PLUS a spare 16" circular needle of a smaller size
Notions:
Scraps of wool yarn for flowers and embellishments, marker, darning needle, scissors.


Ruffle Scarf

Tuesdays: August 17th from 10-11:45 AND August 24th from 12-2:30

Skill level:  Must know how to knit and purl.

Description: This scarf is a good first project once you have knitting and purling down cold.  It is a great gift idea and can be done with different weight yarns in variegated or solid colors.  A great gift idea.

Supplies:  
Yarn:
350 yards of a DK or Fingering Weight yarn
Pattern: Churchmouse "Barb's Koigu Ruffle" 
Needles: For Fingering Wt: 29" or 32" circular size 4 and 6; For DK Wt: 29" or 32" circular size 6 and 8
Notions: Stitch markers,  darning needle, scissors.

Toddler Hat

Tuesdays: September 14 & 21 from 12-2:00

Skill level:  Must know how to knit and purl.

Description: If you are a beginning knitter (know how to knit) and want to take the next step, this is the right class for you.  You will learn how to knit in the round and use two colors of yarn to make a cute toddler’s hat.    With football season coming up, this pattern is perfect for the school colors of your choice. 

Supplies:  
Yarn:
2 skeins of 2 different colors of Mission Falls 1824 Cotton or Wool, OR Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, OR Cascade 220
Pattern: Tamarack Productions "Toddler Hat" pattern 
Needles:
16 inch circular size 11 needles (if using Cascade 220  needles are 10 ˝), Size 11 double point needles (if using Cascade 220  needles are 10 ˝)
Notions: Stitch markers,  darning needle, pom-pom maker, scissors.

 

Oscilloscope Shawl

Tuesdays: September 14 & 28 from 3-5

Skill level:  Must know how to knit and purl.

Instructor:  Janet Larson

Description: This side-to-side shawl can be worn as a scarf or small shawl.  It knits up quickly on a thicker yarn (several great choices available in the shop).  You will learn to read a chart—this is a nice first lace project. Click here to find out what an oscilloscope is.

Yarn:
400 yds. Inca Gold, Wool bamboo, or Mountain Color’s Mountain Goat, any yarn that gets 5.5 to 5 sts. to the inch
Pattern: Knitscene Magazine Fall 2010 
Needles:
Size 9 24” or longer circular needle
Notions: Stitch markers,  darning needle, scissors.

 

Slip Stitch Scarf

Tuesdays: September 21  from 2:30-5

Skill level:  Must know how to knit and purl.

Instructor:  Janet Larson

Cost: $25

Description: If you know how to knit and want to learn an easy technique for knitting with two colors (looks more difficult than it is). You will enjoy making this scarf.

Supplies:  
Yarn:
1 skein Noro's "Silk Garden" and 2 skeins of Berroco's "Inca Gold" in a contrasting but not matching color way OR K1C2's "Tye Dye" yarn and Cascade 220 in a solid contrasting color 
Pattern: Tamarack Productions "Slip Stitch Scarf" 
Needles:
Size 8 and a crochet hook of the same size
Notions: Stitch markers,  darning needle, scissors.
